From My Heart to My Hands

Have you ever had one of those moments when something just sticks with you?

Maybe it was a conversation with someone who was struggling. A need you noticed in your neighborhood. A situation that made you think, "Somebody really should do something about that." And then life happened. The laundry needed folding, your inbox needed attention, and suddenly that thing that stirred your heart got buried under everything else.

Sound familiar?

We all have things that move us. Things we care about deeply. But there's often a pretty big gap between caring about something and actually doing something about it. And sometimes, that gap isn't about a lack of compassion. It's about not knowing where to start.

We wonder if we're qualified. If we have enough time. If someone else would be better suited for the job. We convince ourselves that our contribution would be too small to matter, so we wait for a bigger opportunity, a clearer direction, or a more convenient season.

But what if God isn't asking us to have everything figure out? What if He's simply asking us to pay attention to what He's already placed in our hearts and take the next step?

The book of Nehemiah gives us a fascinating picture of what happens when ordinary people respond to something bigger than themselves. It's a story about faith, purpose, and the kind of work that happens when people stop waiting for someone else to get started.

And there's something encouraging about that. God doesn't need us all to have the same abilities, the same passions, or even the same assignments. He created us differently on purpose.

The challenge is discovering where our hearts and hands meet.

This week's devotional invites us to explore what God has placed within us, recognize the part we have to play, and discover what it looks like to turn faith into action.
