Building a Life That Lasts

We don't usually think about construction unless something breaks. A cracked foundation, a leaky roof, a wall that suddenly isn't where it should be — those moments get our attention fast. But most of the time, we're just living inside what's already been build, not really questioning how it got there or what it's made of.
The same is true of our lives.
We're all building something, whether we realize it or not. Every decision, every habit, every quiet yes or no — it all adds up. Piece by piece, day by day, a structure is forming. The tricky part? Not all building materials are created equal. Some things look solid in the moment but don't last under pressure. Others take more effort, more intention, more patience — but they endure.
If we're honest, it's easy to default to whatever's quick, comfortable, or immediately rewarding. Eternal impact doesn't always scream for our attention the way urgent, temporary things do.
But deep down, most of us want a life that holds together. A life that doesn't fall apart when the storm hits. A life that actually matters, not just now, but in the long run.
That where this week's focus comes in.
This week's devotional invites us into a different way of thinking — one that zooms out beyond the moment and asks bigger questions about what we're building and why it matters. It nudges us to look beneath the surface, to examine our foundation, and to consider whether the way we're living today is shaping something that will last.
It's not about perfection. It's about direction.
Because the truth is, we are all builders. The question is: what are we building with?
